New Machine
Logics

An open call for bold ideas that challenge today's dominant technological logics. Imagine machines as partners in evolving our collective intelligence.

What is this?

Ideathon is an open call for bold ideas that challenge today's dominant technological logics. We invite you to imagine machines not as tools of control, extraction, or optimisation, but as partners in evolving our collective intelligence.

This is the first step in building a global R&D portfolio for alternative human–machine futures. Selected ideas will be supported to grow into prototypes and, eventually, into real-world solutions.

The Challenge

01 — SUB-THEME

From Universalising → Hyperlocal & Situated

Today's systems often universalise: flattening difference and imposing global norms. Can machines help support hyperlocal initiatives, situated practices, and local knowledge generation? This could involve explorations of how such a logic could be reflected in what the machine ‘does’ but also how machines are ‘deployed’ and ‘used’—for instance, the difference between LLMs and locally hosted sLLMs.

02 — SUB-THEME

From Control & Efficiency → Care & Tenderness

Prevailing systems privilege speed, scale, and optimisation. What if machines were designed to cultivate relational capacities—of care, trust, and (mutual) learning?

03 — SUB-THEME

From Individual Intelligence → Collective Intelligence

Rather than amplifying only individual intelligence, machines could strengthen collective sensemaking—enabling shared memory, coordination, distributed problem-solving, and collective action.

What to Submit

We invite participants to submit accessible, public-facing representations of their ideas. Submissions should be engaging, clear, and imaginative. We're not asking for academic papers—we want ideas that inspire.
